What is Fresh Basket?
Fresh Basket is a weekly produce subscription service launched by The Farmers Alliance to bring fresh, seasonal produce directly from G. Flores Farm to our community. Our mission is to make good food more accessible to more families across our region.
Where does the produce come from?
All produce comes from G. Flores Farm, a trusted local grower committed to sustainable farming and community empowerment.
When does the Fresh Basket subscription run?
Fresh Basket follows the local farmers market calendar. For 2025, the subscription is active until December 1. After that, subscriptions are paused for the off-season. You wonāt be charged during this time, and weāll notify you when the new season opens.
Do I need to cancel after December 1?
Nope! Your subscription will automatically pause. Youāll receive an email update before the new season starts, so you can pick right back up when we reopen.
How does the subscription work?
When you subscribe to Fresh Basket, youāll receive a curated selection of fresh, seasonal produce every Saturday. You can manage your subscription, update preferences, and explore optional weekly Add-Ons through your My Fresh Basket dashboard.
Where do you currently deliver?
Fresh Basket is just getting started! At this time, weāre only offering local delivery to the following Washington, D.C. ZIP codes:
20008, 20015, and 20016.
Weāre committed to growing and expanding our delivery zone soon. If youāre outside these areas but interested in Fresh Basket, stay tunedāor let us know via our Contact Form so we can keep you in the loop as we expand.
When is the order cut-off each week?
The weekly cut-off is Wednesday at 11:59 PM. All subscription changes, delivery updates, and Add-On purchases must be completed by this time to be included in that Saturdayās basket.
How do deliveries work?
Deliveries happen every Saturday. If you wonāt be home during the day, we strongly recommend placing a cooler outside your doorāespecially in warmer monthsāto help protect your produce from the heat.
Can I choose to pick up instead of delivery?
It is possible! Fresh Basket offers pick-up case by case. If youād like to switch your method, please contact us using our Contact Form. This change must be made manually and cannot be updated automatically through your account.
Where do I pick-up my Fresh Basket?
Once your request to change Delivery to Pick-up is processed and confirmed via email, you will be able to pick-up your Fresh Basket on Saturdays at the Van Ness Farmers Market 9am-1pm at Van Ness Metro Station 4200 Connecticut Ave NW 20008
How do I add optional items (Add-Ons) to my basket?
We offer weekly Add-Ons like eggs, pantry goods, and specialty produce. You can browse and select these in your My Fresh Basket dashboard.
Important: After selecting your Add-Ons, you must complete checkout for them to be included in your Saturday delivery. The cut-off for Add-On checkout is Wednesday at 11:59 PM.
Can I buy Add-Ons without subscribing to Fresh Basket?
Yes! Youāre welcome to purchase Add-Ons without having a Fresh Basket subscription. Just add the items to your cart and check out by Wednesday at 11:59 PM. Your Add-Ons will still be delivered on Saturday.
Do I need an account to subscribe?
Yes. Youāll be prompted to create an account when you subscribe. This gives you access to the My Fresh Basket dashboard, where you can manage your orders, view upcoming boxes, and make changes to your subscription.
Can I pause, skip, or cancel my subscription?
Absolutely. You can manage your subscription directly in your account dashboard. Just be sure to make any changes before Wednesday at 11:59 PM to avoid being charged for the current weekās basket.
What happens if I forget to check out my Add-Ons?
If you donāt complete checkout for your Add-Ons before the weekly cut-off, they will not be included in your delivery. You can always try again next week.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit/debit cards and other secure payment options available through our checkout system. All payments are processed safely and encrypted.
When will I be charged for my subscription?
Youāll be charged automatically each week after the order cut-off on Wednesday. If you skip a week or pause your subscription before the cut-off, you wonāt be charged.
What if I receive something damaged or missing?
If thereās an issue with your basket or Add-On delivery, please reach out via our Contact Form with a short message and photo (if possible). Weāll make it right.
Are the baskets customizable?
Our core basket is curated based on whatās fresh and in season at G. Flores Farm. While you canāt swap individual items, you can personalize your basket each week with optional Add-Ons.
Can I gift a Fresh Basket subscription to someone else?
Yes! You can send Fresh Basket to multiple people by setting up a separate subscription for each delivery address. Hereās how:
- Go through checkout as usual.
- At checkout, enter the recipients name and delivery address.
- Complete Payment.
- Repeat the process for each additional person you'd like to gift a subscription to.
All active subscriptions will appear in your account dashboard, so you can manage them in one placeāeven if theyāre going to different addresses.
Tip: You can use the āSubscription Noteā field at checkout to label each subscription (like āMomās Basketā or āOffice Deliveryā) for easier tracking in your dashboard.
